Monday’s Music

My school had Monday off so I started my week off going to school on Tuesday, but it still felt like a Monday and no one likes Mondays. I listened to music for a good amount today but its one of those days where I’m just kinda sick of all of my music.

Right now I have two new songs I’ve been putting on repeat; Tipsy by J-Kown and Bricksquad by Waka Flocka Flame lol. I added them to my playlist last night after I saw someone use them for a montage on YouTube. I think the songs I end up liking the most are the ones I find on YouTube or from my friends. I think there’s so many good songs out there that just get overplayed and end up being annoying, which is a shame. I used to hate Drake just because literally everyone was listening to his new album.

Sometimes those days where I’m tired of my music I try to look for new music but other times I just don’t feel like. I have to be in a good mood to listen to new music.

My Playlists

I don’t know how many playlists I have. Its funny because their not even made up of a bunch of different artists, usually when I find a band/artist that I like I put all of their songs on one playlist and put it on repeat. A the moment I think I have a playlist of Metallica, Skillet, Lany, Escape the Fate, Peirce the Veil, Hobo Johnson, A Day to Remember, Fall Out Boy, Panic At The Disco!, Arctic Monkeys, Greta Vann Fleet, Three Days Grace, and Falling in Reverse. I probably don’t listen to half of these anymore either.

This week I’ve been going through my old playlists form middle school and listening to all the songs I used to listen to. Honestly thought most of them are just Nickleback and usually whatever music I’m listening to I make my friends/family listen to and now their all listening to Nickelback too. Our favorite song right now is Rockstar from one of his newer albums. I was honestly surprised by how much rock my dad listened to because I seems like every old rock song I play he knows and loves. Sometimes I get bored of my music and have to listen to something else for a little bit but I always end up going back to my favorites.

At the moment my new favorite playlist would have to be Falling in Reverse but I’ve only listened to half of it. On the other hand my all time favorite playlist would have to be Escape the Fate.

Me and My Music

Here is a little bit about me and my music. I grew up listening to a lot of different kinds of music. On my way to preschool with my mom would play to 70’s and 80’s music, once I got an mp3 player I downloaded my own music which consisted of mostly kids bop and songs from my favorite tv shows. Once my parents got divorced my dad started listening to a lot of Christian music on the radio and we even went to some concerts. My mom didn’t listen to music as much as she got older but when she did it was the same old school songs as when I was younger.

Most of the time we went on vacation to the Frio river and all anyone every played their was country music. I usually didn’t know half the songs but once we got back home I went through a phase of only listening to Carrie Underwood. I got sick of country music pretty fast and stated listening to the more popular radio stations that played all the current pop songs everyone was listening to. After that I started listening to rap, but I got bored of that pretty quick too. One of my best friends showed me some alternative bands like Panic At The Disco! and Fall Out Boy and I was hooked. I got the alternative radio on Pandora but overtime rock songs that I really liked kept popping up. that lead to me listening to hard rock and then screamo lmao.

That’s about where I am now though, listening to hard rock, screamo and the occasional old rock and roll bands. I’m pretty happy with my music and even started listening to alternative and rap a lot more. I think finding our own individual music styles is important and keeps us happy.

The Music in Life

Music is found in different places for everyone, for some its the radio in their car, the band playing at the local bar, the choir at church or the little screen in their pocket. I mostly listen to music on my phone. I think people of all ages and from places all around the world can at least appreciate the art of music.

My math teacher told me once that the reason we like music is because of a mathematical rhythm of some sort that our brains are attracted to. I think the internet also told me once that our heart copies the beat of the music we’re listening to and that’s why we like it. To be honest I have no idea if either of these statements are true or not, but either way I don’t care to look into it. I think the reason we like music is because it makes us happy, that’s all. Any song we listen to; sad, happy, mad we’re usually listening to because we feel the same way and it helps us feel understood. As humans all we really want is to be understood and with millions and millions of songs out their at least a few of them are guaranteed to relate to us one way or another. Sometimes music can describe the feelings that we can’t and that’s pretty cool.

I myself can honestly say that music has helped me through so much and its something I couldn’t see myself without. I think music can be found everywhere you just have to look for it.
